Alexei Ogrintchouk is recognised across the world as an oboist and artist of astounding technique and virtuosity. This is coupled with a profound lyricism and a highly original musicality. In 2005 he was appointed first solo oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam under Mariss Jansons. Prior to this, he was Valery Gergiev’s first solo oboist at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, a position which he secured at the age of 20.
Ogrintchouk now combines his orchestral commitments with both solo and conducting engagements. A charismatic soloist, he has performed under the baton of conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelsons, Gianandrea Noseda, Stephane Deneve, Tugan Sokhiev, Jaap van Zweden and Susanna Malkki. He has performed with the world’s greatest orchestras - the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Orchestre de l'Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Kontzerthausorchester Berlin, Beethovenhalle Orchestra Bonn, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, all the Orchestras of the BBC, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre National de Belgique, Europa Galante, Orchestras of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres, Russian National Orchestra, and Kremerata Baltica.
In 2009 graduated with honours from the Gnessin Music School in Moscow, in 2014 from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and in 2019 from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve (class of Alexei Ogrintchouk). A laureate of international competitions such as the Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments (2012, the 2nd prize and the audience award), the Crussel International Oboe Competition (2014, the third prize).
He has toured in Canada, Mexico, China, Tunis, France, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Switzerland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles.
Has participated in the programs of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Orchestra, MusicAeterna Orchestra, Camerata Armin Jordan (Switzerland), Camerata Venia (Switzerland), the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (Mexico), Symphony Orchestra of India, the Russian National Orchestra, the National Orchestra of France and others. Since 2016 has served as Principal Oboe of the Croatian National Theatre Orchestra (Zagreb, Croatia).
